About the kit: This is the 1982 issue of MPC Kit #1-4305, the McDonnell F2H Banshee in 1/72 scale. This kit is recommended for the modeler of moderate experience. This kit is molded in color (blue) and does require cement for assembly. The finished model has a wingspan of 7-1/2" and a length of 6-3/4". This model comes supplied with the markings of a Banshee flown by squadron VF-22, the "Red Rippers." Included in this kit are the parts for a F2H-2 or F2H-2P (reconnaissance versions). This kit also comes with the underwing missiles, bombs, and wingtip tanks, as well as a pilot figure.
About the plane: Almost 900 of the two-engine straight-wing Banshees were produced and served all through the 1950's with Navy and Marine Squadrons. In addition to the successful fighter bomber versions, a special reconnaissance F2H-2P version was used to supply a majority of the aerial photos used by the Far East Air Forces in Korea.
