About the plane: The Boeing 727 was first introduced in 1960 and began commercially flying in 1964 with Eastern Airlines. The Boeing 727, although not popular anymore, was once Boeing's top selling airframe. It held this title until the early 1990's, when it was overtaken by the 737. The Boeing 727 is the only trijet ever produced by Boeing, which makes it a true piece of aviation history. The last commercial passenger flight on the Boeing 727 was in January of 2019. The Boeing 727 is now mostly used for cargo carriers and in militaries around the world. Only five 727s currently remain for passenger service, with two owned by the Mexican Guardia National. The United States has the largest number of active 727s, followed by the Democratic Republic of the Congo and South American countries like Colombia and Mexico.
