About the plane: First introduced in the 1960s, the SEPECAT Jaguar (a British-French Supersonic Jet Attack Aircraft) was originally a jet trainer with a light ground attack capability. The requirement for the aircraft soon changed to include supersonic performance, reconnaissance and tactical nuclear strike roles. The Jaguar is an orthodox single-seat, swept-wing, twin-engine monoplane design, with tall tricycle-type retractable landing gear. In its original configuration, it had a maximum take-off weight in the 15-ton class: with a combat radius on internal fuel of 530 mi, giving the Jaguar a greater operational range than competitor aircraft such as the Mikoyan MiG-27. Manufactured by SEPECAT from 1968-1981, there were 573 Jaguar's produced. Its primary users include the Royal Air Force, the French Air Force, and the Indian Air Force. As of 2025, the Jaguar remains in service with only the Indian Air Force. The Jaguar was retired from the Royal Air Force in 2007 and retired from the French Air Force in 2005.
