This aircraft was equipped with the powerful DB605 engine and longer wings for high-altitude work. They flew reconnaissance flights over Great Britain at 40,000 feet and one is thought to have shot down a Lancaster. Both of there prototypes were destroyed in an Allied bombing raid.
